Arm Lift: Procedure Overview
Last updated 5 months ago
Whether you’ve recently lost a considerable amount of weight or the skin on your arms is sagging from age, no one likes loose skin on the back and undersides of their arms. Arm lift surgery is one way to eliminate this pesky skin.
Arm lift surgery has 3 main stages:
- Your plastic surgeon will anesthetize you to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Cosmetic surgeons will either use intravenous sedation or general anesthesia to make you comfortable.
- Next, your plastic surgeon will make an incision either on the underside or back of your arm. The length and type of incision your surgeon makes will depend on how much skin needs to be removed, and the location of the excess skin. If your cosmetic surgeon will be removing any excess fat during the arm lift, the fat will either be removed with liposuction or excised.
- The incision will be closed with stitches to be removed in 1-2 weeks, or with absorbable sutures.
